I had never heard of any of you, and I’m sure you never heard of me.  

But after 15 years of the investigative journalism stuff at ESPN, I had to try something new. 

So, I took a chance. 

And I found what I needed… 

…YOU. 

This world inside the outside. 

I don’t fish. 

I don’t like the outside. 

I drove a mini-van… 

…from the NORTHEAST… 

…came with long hair and a notebook… 

…70 stories a year for 14 or 15 years. 

I never once wrote about a fish, when fish read, I’ll write for them, but early on I decided to write ABOUT YOU, and just as importantly, WITH YOU. 

And soon I knew I became what I call:  The Family, Of Us.  All of us who live on this tiny blue dot in space.

Comes soon a wall in our house dedicated to you, you the famous, you the not famous, you who fish, you who don’t, you who make the stuff people fish with, you who actually like the outside, all of you, all equal in my eyes as it should be in everyone’s eyes.
